Draw Your Own Lines
2.6

The zones were always yours. Now the app finally agrees.
There's a moment in every effort when you know. Not because a number told you. Because your body did.
You feel it when easy tips into steady. When steady tips into hard. When hard becomes the kind of thing you'll remember tomorrow. You don't need a chart to name it. You were there.
For a long time, FitWoody drew those lines for you. It took your age, your resting heart rate, a formula that has worked reasonably well for millions of people, and it decided where your zones began and ended. Reasonable. Useful. And, for a lot of you, slightly wrong.

Because a formula estimates. It doesn't feel.
It doesn't know that your Zone 2 sits higher than the math says. It doesn't know that the number where you actually start to struggle isn't the number a calculator predicted. It doesn't know your ceiling, your comfort, the specific place where your breathing changes. You know all of that. You've known it for years.
So we gave the pen back to you.
Zones that fit, not zones that approximate
Starting in 2.6, you can set your own heart rate zones. Move the lines. Mark the thresholds where they actually live for you, not where a formula guessed. If you already know your numbers from a lab test, a coach, or a thousand hours of paying attention, put them in. The app will follow you now, instead of the other way around.
And for anyone who rides, we did the same with cycling. Set your own FTP zones and let every session read against the power that's really yours.
This is a small feature with a quiet idea underneath it: you are the expert on your own effort. Our job was never to overrule that. It was to listen better.

The part you can't see yet
Most of what we built for 2.6 doesn't show up on screen.
Underneath this release, we rebuilt the foundation of FitWoody. New structure, new plumbing, the kind of work nobody notices when it's done well and everybody notices when it isn't. It isn't glamorous. It's the reason the next chapter is possible.
Because FitWoody 3.0 is coming this September. It's the biggest thing we've ever attempted, and it needed solid ground to stand on. That ground is now laid.
If you subscribe to FitWoody Plus, you won't have to wait until September to see it. The 3.0 beta opens to subscribers at the end of July. An early, honest look at where all of this is heading, rough edges and all, built alongside the people who've trusted us with their mornings and their recoveries and their bad days.
One more thing
2.6 is, most likely, the last stop before 3.0. A few bug fixes may follow if something needs it. But this is the quiet before the big one.
Thank you for letting us draw the lines for a while. It's time you took the pen back.
